The manufacturer of this ring didn’t bother to make clean out holes, or clean the ring before setting the center stone. During this simple ring sizing the job turned into a full blown jewelry repair. The dirt behind the stone burned when I applied heat to do the sizing. I had to carefully cut out the stone, clean behind it, add the gold back that I had cut away, and reset the stone. As you can see in the 3D render of this ring, at the beginning the stones had deep, U shaped cut outs under each of them. Since the engraving was to be the major focal point of the ring, beyond the stones, the customer and I decided it would be better to bring the metal all the way up to the stones.
