Designing, Cutting a Wax, and Casting range between $400 and $1200, and can go higher depending on complexity.
Metal prices are determined by weight. Gold rings usually range between $200 and $1200. Platinum can be 3 to 4 times that price. Silver is generally a $150 or less.
Stone setting cost is determined by the size, value, and shape of the gemstone. For example, small stones cost $10 each, while a 1ct round diamond costs $97, and a princess cut would average around $191. Custom can supply stones of any type, both large and small.
Custom hand engraving ranges from $200 to $600, depending on the size and complexity.
Soldering and intricate design-work can also add to cost. If your design has multiple pieces that need to be assembled with solder, then there is a $26 charge per solder location.
Rhodium plating is needed on white gold pieces at a price of $35 per piece.
By
providing your own metal from unworn or heirloom jewelry pieces, you can reduce the cost of your custom designed piece. We can use any type of precious metal to offset the price of your project.
Selling your metal is another way to offset cost. If you have some scrap yellow gold, but want a white gold piece (or vice-versa), we will buy your yellow gold at the current market scrap price and apply the credit to your project. We will need to test any scrap metal ourselves to determine its market value.
Custom can also repurpose stones from another piece of jewelry or set your pre-owned stones into your new custom piece.
During consultations we will discuss your design ideas and collaborate to come up with an initial design and price estimate. Consultations can either be done in person at the shop or via e-mail. We encourage customers to e-mail us pictures, magazine clippings, or sketches to help illustrate the types of design that inspires them, or bring images with them into the shop to discuss in person. By telling us which elements of the images you like or dislike we can design for you the piece of custom jewelry you have always wanted.
We require a 50% deposit before beginning any Custom project. We will provide you a solid estimate after collaborating on a design. The deposit is based on this design and is due before work is started.
At Custom, we’ll either use hand carving or computer-aided design to create the wax mold from which we will cast your piece. Organic shapes lend themselves to being hand carved, whereas symmetrical designs, with lots of stones, are better computer designed.
If computer designed, we will send you 3D renders of the piece for your approval before moving onto the wax carving stage. Before we cast, we will send you pictures of hand-carved waxes for any final changes that need to be made, to ensure you are happy with the finished piece.
Once the design has been rendered by us and approved by you, we will start creating your one-of-a-kind piece. Your metals will be cast, your stones set, and your engraving completed. With a final polish and shine, we call you to let you know you can come pick up your Custom Designed Piece.
